Ets el sol

Músser. Fotografia: Empar Sáez

Ets el sol
al revés, tota l'energia
flueix cap a tu i
s'elimina; rebutges
les cases, fas olor de
catàstrofe, et veig
cec i manc, brillant
a la foscor, els arbres es trenquen
sota els teus peus, exigeixes,
exigeixes

Jec mutilada al teu
costat; entre nosaltres hi ha
sirenes, focs, la gent corre
cridant, la ciutat
està derruïda i destrossada,
les puntes dels dits et sagnen
de 1000 assassinats

Em vesteixo
altre cop, em retiro, tanco les portes
estic sorpresa / puc seguir
pensant, fer el que sigui

Com puc aturar-te

Per què et vaig crear

You are the sun
in reverse, all energy
flows into you and is
abolished; you refuse
houses, you smell of
catastrophe, I see you
blind and one-handed, flashing
in the dark, trees breaking
under your feet, you demand,
you demand

I lie mutilated beside
you; beneath us there are
sirens, fires, the people run
squealing, the city
is crushed and gutted
the ends of your fingers bleed
from 1000 murders

Putting on my clothes
again, retreating, closing doors
I am amazed / I can continue
to think, eat, anything

How can I stop you

Why did I create you

Salm per a la serp

Cadaquès. Fotografia: Empar Sáez

SALM PER A LA SERP

Oh, serp, tu ets un tema
per a la poesia:

un moviment entre fulles seques
quan no fa vent,
una línia fina que es mou a través

d'allò que no és
temps, que crea temps,
una veu des de la mort, obliqua

i silenciosa. Un moviment
d'esquerra a dreta,
un esvaïment. Profeta sota una pedra.

Sé que ets allí
fins i tot quan no et puc veure.

Veig el rastre que deixes
damunt la sorra nua, al matí.

Veig el punt
d'intersecció, la fuetada
sobre l'ull. Veig la peça que has mort.

Oh llarga paraula, de sang freda i perfecta.

Psalm to Snake

O snake, you are an argument
for poetry:

a shift among dry leaves
when there is no wind,
a thin line moving through

that which is not
time, creating time,
a voice from the dead, oblique

and silent. A movement
from left to right,
a vanishing. Prophet under a stone.

I know you’re there
even when I can’t see you

I saw the trail you make
in the blank sand, in the morning

I see the point
of intersection, the whiplash
across the eye. I see the kill.

O long word, cold-blooded and perfect.

Es comença

Lerici, Itàlia. Fotografia: Empar Sáez

Es comença

Es comença així:
això és la mà,
això és l’ull,
això un peix blau i pla
damunt del paper, gairebé
la forma d’un ull.
Això és la boca, això una O
o una lluna, el que més
t’estimis.

You begin

You begin this way:
this is your hand,
this is your eye,
that is a fish, blue and flat
on the paper, almost
the shape of an eye.
This is your mouth, this is an O
or a moon, whichever
you like. This is yellow.

Outside the window
is the rain, green
because it is summer, and beyond that
the trees and then the world,
which is round and has only
the colors of these nine crayons.

This is the world, which is fuller
and more difficult to learn than I have said.
You are right to smudge it that way
with the red and then
the orange: the world burns.

Once you have learned these words
you will learn that there are more
words than you can ever learn.
The word hand floats above your hand
like a small cloud over a lake.
The word hand anchors
your hand to this table,
your hand is a warm stone
I hold between two words.

This is your hand, these are my hands, this is the world,
which is round but not flat and has more colors
than we can see.

It begins, it has an end,
this is what you will
come back to, this is your hand.
